John J. Abbate


Mr. Abbate is a partner and senior trial attorney with over 30 years of trial experience. He is a graduate of the St. John’s University School of Law and started his career with the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Abbate has been rated AV Preeminent, the highest rating awarded by Martindale Hubbell, and has been named one of Long Island’s top “Legal Eagles” by Long Island Pulse Magazine. He has also been selected as a New York Metro Area “Super Lawyer”, a distinction awarded to only 5% of New York attorneys. Mr. Abbate has also been recognized as a New York area “Top Lawyer” as published in New York Magazine.

Mr. Abbate has served as a member of the Judicial Screening Committee and the Committee on Professionalism of the Suffolk County Bar Association, and has lectured before the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, was an adjunct professor teaching litigation in the legal assistant’s program at Adelphi University, and has taught trial advocacy at the Hofstra Law School. He has also served as an executive board member of the Alexander Hamilton Inns of Court.

Mr. Abbate is admitted to practice in the State of New York, and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is also admitted to the United States Court of Military Appeals and the United Stated Court of International Trade. Mr. Abbate served in the United States Army receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of captain.
